Magehand

Make DMing easy.

Run your whole adventure from one page.

Hover any monster, spell or item for its full stat block or rules. Customize the adventure for your party, right in the text. Play out the fight on the same page, initiative and attack rolls included.

An adventure page in Magehand: the contents sidebar, the text with its fights, and three monster stat blocks pinned beside it.

Everything on the page

Everything you need, right where you’re reading

Hover any creature, spell or item for its card, and pin the ones you need for the fight. Jump to any chapter or section from the contents sidebar, and start any fight right from the text with one click.

One location from Chapter 2: its combat block with its creature and a Begin Combat button, and the creature’s stat block card open beside the text.

Remixes, woven in

Your remix and your notes, in the book

Read the remix inside the adventure itself, not in a separate PDF, with its design notes, options and designer tips right where they apply. Add your own changes in edit mode, and leave comments for yourself or your co-DM.

Less bookkeeping

Less bookkeeping at the table

Roll initiative, attacks and damage against the right Armor Class with one click, and track conditions and concentration as you go. Build characters with the 2024 rules and skip the math for saves, spell slots and attacks, then keep hit points and rests from one fight to the next.

The combat tracker mid-fight: bugbears and four demo characters in turn order, a bugbear’s stat block, and a rolled hit with its damage.
The party page: demo characters with hit points, Armor Class, saves and spell slots.

Fair fights

Pick the party and the monsters and see the difficulty by the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide, then run it.

Your own monsters

Copy a creature or start from scratch, and watch the stat block take shape as you type. In a fight, roll its attacks with one click.

Handouts in a folder, each shared with all players, one player, or two players.

Handouts

Share each handout with nobody yet, some players, or all of them. Players open a private link, no account needed.

Account settings: the address to paste into an AI assistant to connect it.

Bring your own AI assistant, or use the API

I know, I know. Magehand doesn’t run an AI. But if you already use one, like Claude, you can connect it (or your own scripts, through the API) to take bookkeeping off your plate: checking on the party, tracking loot, drafting a handout. You choose what it may change. And if you’d rather not touch it with a ten-foot pole, I completely get it; everything else works without it.

Rules

Still playing the 2014 rules? That works too.

Choose 2014 or 2024 rules for each campaign. In a 2014 campaign you get the 2014 monsters, spells and items, and the 2014 encounter math. (Character building uses the 2024 rules for now.)

You bring the book

Published adventures belong to the people who wrote them. Before you open one, Magehand asks two quick questions you can answer by looking in your copy. We never show an adventure’s text to anyone who hasn’t.

Free, and made for fun

Magehand isn’t a business. It was made by one DM for their own table, and shared with other DMs. No ads, and no third-party tracking. Read why in the FAQ.
